Hip-hop has never been just music. It is a movement, a form of resistance, a way of storytelling that transcends language, borders, and generations. It is the voice of the streets, the rhythm of rebellion, and the expression of a community that refuses to be silenced.
Bangladesh has always had hip-hop in its DNA. From the early battle rap days in Dhaka’s underground to graffiti artists tagging city walls, from DJs keeping the cyphers alive to B-boys breaking on concrete—hip-hop has been here, growing, evolving, and demanding its rightful place.
Yet, despite its presence, its documentation has been fragile. In 2013, an attempt was made to create Bangladesh’s first dedicated hip-hop media platform. It was a bold step, but ahead of its time. In 2015, another effort emerged, pushing the narrative forward, highlighting the rise of battle rap, the influence of producers, and the birth of a new wave of artists. But like many movements before their moment, those platforms faded.
Now, a decade later, Bangla Scene returns—not as another attempt, but as the definitive platform for Bangladesh’s hip-hop culture. And this time, we are here to stay.
Hip-hop is not just about rap. It is the MC spitting truth into a mic, the DJ spinning records that move the crowd, the B-boy battling with his body, the graffiti artist turning blank walls into statements, and the knowledge that binds them all together. It is a culture built on rhythm, resistance, and raw expression.
For too long, Bangladesh’s hip-hop scene has existed in fragments—discussed in Facebook groups, debated in battle arenas, and passed down through word of mouth. It is time for it to have a permanent record, a platform that does not just observe but amplifies, critiques, and celebrates the movement in its entirety.
Bangla Scene will do just that.
We will document the voices shaping the sound, the albums defining an era, the battles shaking the scene, and the artists pushing boundaries. We will bring the five elements of hip-hop under one roof, ensuring that every beat, every verse, every move, and every spray-painted piece of art is given the recognition it deserves.
This is not just another comeback. This is the foundation of something bigger.
Welcome to Bangla Scene. The culture is alive, and so is its voice.
